I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of yesterday's date and in reply I beg respectfully to represent to you for the information of His Excellency the Governor, that on the receipt of your letter of the 27th ultimo I at once saw that I could not, in justice to myself or the Public, encourage the Office Officer in this felony with that promptitude and energy which is so necessary on all occasions, and moreover I should sustain very heavy loss in not being able to follow my general business.
It also occurred to me that His Excellency the Governor could not be acquainted with the various duties incidental
